FORT MYERS – The Iranian American community is closely watching the events unfolding in Iran.

WINK News security analyst Richard Kolko spoke with Behrouz Nabavi, an 88-year-old Iranian American living in Fort Myers.

Known as Bruce, Nabavi was a respected college professor and president in Iran before escaping with his family in 1979, just before the arrival of the Ayatollah.

“They are coming to the streets. You can’t believe your eyes. By millions, millions, big streets all fall and they are killing them,” said Nabavi.

Nabavi hopes for a change in leadership, expressing his desire for the return of the Shah’s grandson, Reza. “They will run out of the country and the king goes back. The king’s son, Prince would go back. His name is Reza, like his grandfather,” he said.

Nabavi believes a new government would stop supporting terrorism.

“Now, do you think the new government would stop doing that? New government would not only stop would prevent such a thing,” he said.

Despite the internet blackout, Nabavi continues to search for news and remains concerned about the loss of life. He believes the fight must continue and is eager to see what unfolds in the coming days and weeks.
