RadNet, one of the nation’s largest outpatient diagnostic imaging providers, entered the Southwest Florida market through its acquisition of Radiology Regional, a long-standing physician-led practice with 13 imaging centers spanning Naples, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte and Sarasota.
The deal marks RadNet’s first move into the region and significantly expands its footprint in Florida, where the company previously operated five imaging centers. With the acquisition, RadNet adds an estimated 400 employees and 44 contracted radiologists to its network, bringing its local presence into some of the state’s fastest-growing and aging communities.
Radiology Regional, which has served Southwest Florida for more than 50 years, offers a full range of diagnostic services, including MRI, CT, PET/CT, mammography, ultrasound and X-ray. The practice operates across Lee, Collier, Charlotte and Sarasota counties, covering more than 115 miles of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
“RadNet is proud to enter a dynamic region of Florida and build on Radiology Regional’s well-trusted history,” said Steve Forthuber, president and CEO of Eastern Operations for RadNet. “As Florida’s population grows and ages, demand for advanced imaging services is accelerating. Through our clinical excellence, operations expertise and AI-powered digital health solutions, RadNet intends to bring accessible and affordable leading-edge patient care, population health screening programs and a focus on early detection of disease to the communities of Southwest Florida.”
The acquisition aligns with RadNet’s broader strategy to expand outpatient imaging access while integrating its DeepHealth artificial intelligence and informatics platform, which the company says is designed to improve clinical accuracy, streamline imaging workflows and enhance the patient experience. The company has positioned these tools as part of a shift toward earlier detection and more proactive disease management.
Radiology Regional’s Goodlette-Frank Road imaging center in Naples is among 13 Southwest Florida locations acquired by RadNet, expanding the company’s outpatient diagnostic imaging footprint across the region.
Radiology Regional
For LucidHealth, which owned Radiology Regional prior to the transaction, the sale represents a strategic realignment. “After careful consideration of the long-term success of LucidHealth and Radiology Regional, we are confident that RadNet’s acquisition creates meaningful growth opportunities for both organizations,” said Steve Corbeil, CEO of LucidHealth. “Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to physician-led clinical operations and delivering exceptional patient care.”
Dr. Darius Biskup, practice president at Radiology Regional, said the transition offers access to resources that would be difficult for a regional provider to develop independently. Joining RadNet, he said, “allows us to accelerate our mission — providing Southwest Florida with the highest quality diagnostic imaging services — by gaining access to clinically validated AI technologies and operational resources that will directly benefit our patients, our radiologists and our entire care team.”
Nationally, RadNet operates more than 400 outpatient imaging centers, performs more than 10 million procedures annually and employs more than 11,000 people. The company expects the Radiology Regional acquisition to add approximately $100 million in revenue in 2026. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
