ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — One person is dead, and several are injured after a crash in St. Petersburg Saturday night.
The crash happened on North Frontage Road and MLK Street North around 9:30 p.m.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a silver Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling northbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street North and crossing North Frontage Road with a green light when a blue Dodge Challenger failed to stop at the red light.
The Challenger, driven by Izell Shelby, was traveling in the westbound lanes at a high rate of speed on North Frontage Road and did not stop at the red light, hitting the Outlander.
Shleby died from his injuries at a hospital in St. Petersburg, officers said.
The other driver and her three passengers were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
SPPD stated that speed and the lack of proper safety belt use appeared to be factors in the crash.
Shelby was also found to have an active warrant and a suspended Florida driver’s license, according to the SPPD.
