Lawrence’s effectiveness accelerated rapidly as the season continued. He threw 29 touchdowns, rushed for nine, and threw nine interceptions – including 19 touchdowns passing and five rushing with five interceptions as the Jaguars won their last eight regular-season games to clinch their first AFC South title since 2022.

“He’s tall, he’s fast, he’s big, he can throw,” Jaguars wide receiver Jakobi Meyers said. “He can go wherever he wants to go, truthfully.”

Running back Travis Etienne Jr., Lawrence’s teammate throughout his NFL career and during their final three seasons at Clemson University, praised Lawrence throughout season – and said often he was playing at the highest level of his career.

He said Lawrence’s future progression likely will come from being “cocky.”

“Just stop caring what people think in reality,” he said. “Just don’t give a damn, man. You’re the man. Just go out there and be yourself. Make plays and play fearless and reckless, reckless abandon.”

Coen spoke to Lawrence about playing freely in that fashion around midseason, counseling the quarterback to “let it rip” and not worry about interceptions. Lawrence threw three interceptions with three touchdowns in an overtime victory over the Arizona Cardinals shortly thereafter, then threw 15 touchdowns with one interception in the final six regular-season games. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December/January.

“He (Coen) just gave me all the confidence, to know that he had my back,” Lawrence said. “I think that’s one of the best things, the quarterback to know that the people around you believe in you, that they have your back. He just gave me that freedom, to just cut it loose.
