The reason that three 5-7 college football teams were playing in bowl games is that three teams chose not to play in bowls. Notre Dame was unhappy it was not included in the College Football Playoff final 12 teams. Iowa State’s head coach became the coach at Penn State. Kansas State’s head coach retired. The players at the schools voted to skip the bowl games. Iowa State and Kansas State were each fined $500,000 for not playing in a bowl by the Big 12 Conference.
The Secretary of Defense is now the Secretary of War and the Gulf of Mexico is now the Gulf of America. It seems like the Orlando Sentinel should have heard this by now.
Hoping 2026 brings the NFL’s Powers That Be to their senses by moving “Thursday Night Football” to Friday or Saturday night. Players can’t even feel their extremities until Friday after playing the previous Sunday, and there’s no time to review film of your opponent. Imagine how many more home-viewing parties there could be with fewer people having to be at work the next morning.
Sunday afternoon at 4 and I have a cold. Knock on the door: Another roofer. I bought a no-trespassing sign and emailed the guy and told him Sunday should be for quiet and peace. The email explained I am also a priest!
