MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Two South Florida men will have an extended stay in Martin County after they attempted to burglarize boats and steal thousands of dollars in high-tech marine equipment.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) states that the investigation began last week after identifying a suspicious vehicle believed to be connected to vessel burglaries at multiple marinas and boat storage locations throughout Martin County.

MCSO says detectives and road patrol officers worked together to stop the two suspects, identified as Emmanuel Etienne and Victor Cochez, from leaving the county. Investigators uncovered multiple stolen Garmin GPS units, along with burglary tools from the suspects’ vehicle.

Deputies say the investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate additional individuals connected to the two men.
The sheriff’s office says it will continue to aggressively target organized criminals who target the boating and maritime community.
