These squads were involved in one of the most surprising and largest transactions of the offseason when the Grizzlies sent Desmond Bane and their first round pick for the 2026 draft to the Magic for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four first round picks and pick swaps.

Through about 40 games each, the teams are only separated by a handful of games as Memphis sits at 17-22 entering the day while Orlando is 22-18. Both teams are in the playoff fight as of now with the Magic at sixth in the East and the Grizzlies holding down 10th in the West.

Each team has been off since Sunday, when each earned a win over a lesser squad from the opposing conference. Memphis knocked off the Brooklyn Nets, 103-98, thanks to 21 points and eight rebounds from Cedric Coward, 14 points and three blocks from Jaren Jackson Jr., 16 points, nine boards and two steals from Jock Landale, 12 points and 13 assists from Cam Spencer, and 29 points combined from Santi Aldama and Caldwell-Pope from off the bench. Aldama also added eight boards, three assists, three blocks and a steal.

Orlando earned a 128-118 win over the New Orleans Pelicans as Bane led the game in scoring with 27 to go with five boards, four assists and two steals, while Anthony Black added 26 points, seven dimes, five rebounds and three steals, and Paolo Banchero chipped in 23, eight boards, eight assists, a steal and a block. Goga Bitadze went for 14 points, 13 boards, three steals and two blocks, and from off the pine, Tristan da Silva added 16 of his own on four-for-five shooting from distance.
