January 15, 2026 – Duke Energy Florida announced Wednesday that it would remove storm cost recovery charges from bills starting in February, a month ahead of schedule. The fees allow St. Petersburg-based Duke to recoup approximately $1.1 billion in upfront costs related to Hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton. Residential customers should expect a roughly $33 decrease in monthly bills beginning in February, and another $11 reduction in March.
