Right before Christmas, the Periwinkle Park team helped a red-shouldered hawk that had become entangled in fishing line near the Sanibel River. It reported that as a result of staff’s quick thinking and careful work, the hawk was safely freed and released back into the wild. Periwinkle Park extended a thank you to Jay, Jeff and James for handling the rescue with professionalism and care. It noted that the experience is a reminder of the importance of properly cleaning up fishing line and gear to protect Sanibel’s native wildlife.
