FORT MYERS, Fla. – A local cat rescue is hosting the purrrfect event to raise money for a good cause.
Haven on Earth Animal League in Fort Myers is hosting their first “Cat Walk”. The non-profit’s event will offer a one, two , or three mile walk at Pelican Preserve Town Center on February 7th. There will also be raffles, games and auctions to help raise money for the donation-based cat rescue.
“Come to show your support for Haven on Earth Animal League and all of the volunteers who spend countless hours, days and nights taking care of these community cats,” said Christina Pottinger, Co-Chair for HEAL’s Cat Walk.
The money will be used for HEAL’s successful TNR program which benefits more than 800 cats each year. TNR stands for trap, neuter and release. Organizers say it’s a vital way to control the feral and community cat populations.
“Trap, neuter, release allows them to live out their lives in better health and to hopefully help stop the reproducing cycle,” said Janet Rushin, TNR Coordinator for HEAL.
If you’re interested in participating in the “Cat Walk”, it costs twenty dollars for anyone 12 years and older, ten dollars for kids six to 12. Participation for children under six is free. Scan the QR code on the flyer to participate.
