FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Deputies arrested a Pompano Beach man on Saturday in connection with the murder of a woman in Fort Pierce, after what began as a report of a suspicious person.
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies were first called to the area of South Rock Road behind a Pilot Truck Stop late Thursday night after a witness called 911 to report a suspicious person, according to previous reports.
“This is really just a residential road. It’s really strange for a truck to come down this road at all,” Lauren Carter told CBS12 News on Thursday. “Being so close to something that scary was a little concerning.”
Upon arrival, deputies say they found 41-year-old Olson Jean of Pompano Beach near a semi truck that left the road and went into a ditch.
But that’s not all they found.
During the investigation, deputies reportedly noticed blood inside the cab of the truck and on the outside of the passenger side. Jean was initially charged with Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
But, on Saturday, detectives found probable cause to book Jean on counts of First Degree Murder with a Firearm and Tampering with Evidence in connection with the death of a 32-year-old Coconut Creek woman, Wendy Moncion.

Deputies say Jean is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail without bond.
Authorities have not yet confirmed if the victim’s body has been recovered.
A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday in Fort Pierce, where Sheriff Del Toro may reveal more details about the investigation.
As of Sunday, the investigation remains active. Deputies urge anyone with information related to the case to contact SLCSO’s Criminal Investigation Division at (772) 462-7300 or email CrimeTips@stluciesheriff.gov.
