If you’ve been on ‘Darian Mensah watch’ throughout this weekend, trust us when we say you haven’t been alone there. With it being announced that Duke’s starting quarterback is off to the portal, the expectation has been that he’ll commit to The U soon.

Miami will still be without key CB for CFP title thanks to embarrassing call

That may have to wait a few days, as the Hurricanes are all-in on winning the CFP title on Monday night. However, could a final announcement come as early as Tuesday? That might be the case and Mario Cristobal is getting some extra help in the recruiting department.

While in Miami, On3’s J.D. Pickell indirectly asked Rueben Bain Jr. what his recruiting pitch would be to a transfer quarterback, from the ACC mind you, who was thinking of heading to Coral Gables. Bain didn’t hold back with his response:

Asked Rueben Bain HYPOTHETICALLY if a transfer portal QB (maybe from the ACC) were considering Miami, what would his pitch be…https://t.co/QVoOAL9ogs pic.twitter.com/PodeFWaRPK

“Why not Miami, man – you’ve seen the last few years what we’ve done at that position,” Bain said. “We’ve only been going up since Coach Cristobal got here and I feel like it’s a clear shot of what’s going on for the program for years to come.”

Hey Darian, if you’re out there reading, Bain sure would love to see you keep this program rolling in the right way. Bain of course is playing his last game on Monday with the ACC powerhouse, as he’ll be off to the NFL next season.

Bain is widely considered a lock to be a first-round pick, as he’s going to terrorize NFL QBs the same way he’s been doing at the college level. Before he makes that leap to the pros, though, he’s got a CFP title on his mind.

Will he be able to help Miami get the job done and bring home yet another natty? We’re about to find out, as a monster game vs. Indiana is on the way. Win or lose, Cristobal has the program back operating at a high level. Barring a shocker, it seems like Mensah will be part of the plans for 2026 as well.
