WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Communities across South Florida are honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday with a wide range of events that stretch from parades on the Treasure Coast to cultural gatherings and service projects throughout Palm Beach County.
Palm Beach County
In Palm Beach County, several cities are hosting major community events throughout the day.
Delray Beach begins its Annual Walk Against Violence & Hate at 2 p.m. from the Delray Beach Community Center, followed by programming at the Spady Museum featuring speakers, musical performances and refreshments.
Boca Raton starts its observance with an 8 a.m. community breakfast at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church before a Unity March at 10 a.m. from the MLK Jr. Monument to Mizner Park Amphitheater, where a ceremony will include keynote remarks from Dr. Keven Allen.
Service opportunities are available countywide through the MLK Day of Service in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, with volunteer shifts beginning as early as 7 a.m.
Boynton Beach is hosting free community activities from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Sara Sims Park, including a morning cleanup and a soulful Motown tribute later in the morning.
Royal Palm Beach is holding its annual community celebration from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center with breakfast, performances and a keynote from Dr. L. Oliver Robinson.
Wellington is hosting a remembrance program at the Wellington Community Center from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. featuring a fireside chat with Clarence E. Anthony, CEO of the National League of Cities.
West Palm Beach is welcoming guests to the MLK Scholarship Breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
The Spady Museum—celebrating its 25th anniversary—will hold its signature Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Brunch at the Indian Spring Country Club, featuring reenactments by the CORE Ensemble and a keynote address by William “Bill” Nix, whose family has deep historical ties to Dr. King.
Indian River County
In Indian River County, Vero Beach is holding its annual MLK Day Parade with lineup from 8 to 9 a.m. at 28th Court and 45th Street. The parade is expected to start around 10 a.m., bringing together local leaders, community organizations and families walking in unity and celebration of Dr. King’s legacy.
St. Lucie County
In St. Lucie County, Fort Pierce is hosting its Martin Luther King Jr. Day Grand Parade starting at 10 a.m. after a 9 a.m. lineup at Avenue I and MLK Boulevard.
Port St. Lucie will hold its own MLK Celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. at Whispering Pines Park, where families can enjoy music, food, kids’ activities, and a community march honoring the spirit of service.
Martin County
In Martin County, Stuart continues its longstanding tradition with an 11 a.m. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade beginning at Stuart Middle School. The procession will end with a ceremony at Guy Davis Park, featuring music, community reflections and opportunities to honor local leaders.
From solemn marches to vibrant parades and handson service projects, residents across all four counties are coming together to honor Dr. King’s message of unity, courage and community service—reflecting the enduring impact of his life and legacy throughout South Florida.
