Now, all that remains of the boathouse is pavement, sand, a few fuel docks, and a crane, marking a new beginning. “That’s encouraging news, seeing that they got it demolished. They have finally agreed on something,” Kenney said. “I’m sure the neighbors across the street, they will like it because they’ve got a beautiful view.”One of the owners at the Kearns Restaurant Group tells Gulf Coast News they plan to have architectural drawings ready within the next 30 to 60 days, although he expressed concern that the city’s timeline for redeveloping the property is much longer than theirs. “I just wish they could speed the process up a little bit,” said Dun Purden, Cape Coral resident.The owner anticipates that rebuilding may not begin until the middle of next summer due to the many unknown timelines. Kenney hopes the rebuild happens sooner, rather than later. “Because I’m getting old and sitting here waiting,” Kenney said. “My time is passing me by. I would like to have at least one more lunch before I go.”One of the owners mentioned that the city does not yet have a timeline for the new parking garage.
