The Keyes Company is celebrating 100 years of operation as one of Florida’s largest independent brokerages.

Established a century ago by Kenneth Keyes during Florida’s mid-1920s real estate boom, The Keyes Company moved its headquarters to downtown Miami in 1933 shortly before surpassing $1 million in annual sales in 1934.

The Pappas family became involved in Keyes in the 1960s, and brothers Mike and Tim Pappas acquired the firm in the 90s. The company now operates under the third generation of Pappas leadership with Christina Pappas serving as president and Mike Pappas as CEO.

“Survival is not accidental — it’s intentional,” Mike Pappas said in a press release. “From my father Ted to my brother Tim and me, to Christina and our current leadership team, the guiding question has always been: What do consumers need right now, and how do we deliver it better than anyone else? That mindset has carried Keyes through wars, recessions, technological disruption and massive population growth in Florida. One hundred years later, that same philosophy continues to guide us.”
