TAMPA, Fla. — Gasparilla season is here, and in just a few days, the children’s parade will take over Tampa Bay.

Tampa Police and city leaders said they are taking steps to protect people at the event, that includes reminding attendees of the best ways to keep track of their family and their belongings.

Chief Lee Bercaw suggests taking a picture of your parking spot when you arrive. You can also text the word “GASPARILLA” to 888-777 to receive alerts from the city.

As a reminder, the children’s parade is an alcohol-free event.

The main parade takes place Jan. 31.
