Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the state has uncovered nearly 21,000 fraudulent petitions submitted by Smart & Safe Florida in an attempt to gain the necessary signatures to place a recreational marijuana amendment on November’s ballot. What’s more is Uthmeier stated local election officials verified approximately a third of the fraudulent petitions that were sent to the state. As a result, the AG has opened 46 criminal investigations into the alleged fraudulent petitions, with four of those focused squarely on the Smart & Safe Florida PAC’s operations.
Boca Raton’s city council approved a plan for the One Boca downtown development project on Tuesday. The proposed plan calls for the redevelopment of nearly 30 acres near West Palmetto Park Road and Dixie Highway. The mixed-use development proposal calls for 765 rental units, 182 condos (including workforce housing), commercial space, new government buildings, and a redesigned Memorial Park. The proposal now goes to voters to decide on the March 10th ballot referendum.
There’s still no resolution to the law enforcement issues in Loxahatchee Groves. The Town, which has been in a standoff with PBSO over the cost of services, voted to continue to weigh options meaning that they’ll continue without law enforcement services for now. At issue is an unpaid balance of over $113,000 and the ongoing cost of service which the town says is unaffordable.

Gas prices rose by nine cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.84 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.00 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.89, it’s $2.85 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.86 per gallon.
