The Cape Coral Police Department arrested a suspect accused of stealing a vehicle.The CCPD said that on Dec. 9, it responded to a report of a stolen blue 2015 Dodge Charger from a residence near NE 14th Avenue. The vehicle was reported stolen after the owner confirmed that no one had permission to use it.CCPD said that later on that day, the vehicle was located in Fort Myers, being driven by suspect Blake Riollano, 19, who had a passenger. Officers say that both men ran away after abandoning the vehicle, but were quickly detained.CCPD’s property crimes detectives interviewed the passenger, who said that Riollano picked him up at around 3 a.m. in the stolen vehicle, told him the vehicle was stolen and drove around Pine Island and Cape Coral before being arrested.Riollano was arrested and charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony.CCPD says that during a follow-up investigation, the vehicle owner reported an attempted charge on a credit card left in the stolen vehicle of almost $300 at a Bokeelia grocery store. They add that grocery store employees declined the transaction and provided a video of two males trying to buy groceries.Detectives say they met with the other male in the video, who identified himself and Riollano in the footage.
