Bond denied for suspect in shooting of FSU football player, family speaks out

  • January 22, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Bond has been denied for a suspect charged in the shooting of FSU football player Ethan Pritchard.

Jayden Bodison appeared in court this morning for a bond hearing, where prosecutors showed video of who they believe to be Bodison firing shots the night of the shooting.

Pritchard and his family addressed Bodison and the judge in court, explaining how difficult the past few months have been for them.

“I hope he sees what he did,” Pritchard said in court.

His father, Earl Pritchard, Jr., also addressed the court Wednesday, asking the judge to deny Bodison’s bond. “He finished school early, graduated to go to Florida State, and this is what he took from him,” he said. “He doesn’t need to walk the streets.”

In the video from prosecutors, you can see and hear the moment shots were fired. Pritchard’s car is also seen driving in reverse to get away from the gunfire.

Pritchard’s aunt, Zealene Lawrence, was with him when the shooting happened. “It triggers me,” she said. “I’m in pain each and every day. Ethan is in pain each and every day.”

Jayden Bodison, along with Caron Miller and a juvenile, were charged with 3 counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. A fourth suspect was charged with 1 count of probation violation.

Police said Bodison, Miller and the juvenile shot into Pritchard’s car last August, thinking he was someone else.

Pritchard suffered life-threatening injuries and has gone through months of intense rehab and recovery. The FSU linebacker was released from the hospital more than a month after the shooting.

Bodison’s court date is set for March 12.
