Man accused of breaking into car, stealing cash in Cape Coral

A Lehigh Acres man is accused of stealing cash from cars and running from the police in Cape Coral on Saturday.According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to a Cape Coral home at around 5:24 a.m. after reports of a man attempting to break into the victim’s car.The victim caught the man on a Ring doorbell camera. The video footage was shown to CCPD.The video showed the man walking northbound away from the house. Officers established a perimeter, and unmanned aerial vehicle, K9 and chopper units responded to the area, CCPD said.At around 7:18 a.m., officers saw a man who matched the description of the suspect in the video. He was identified as Jlishawon Daniels, 19, CCPD said.Daniels saw the officers and began to run west between houses. The officers chased him, telling him to stop, which he did not, CCPD said.Daniels continued to run until he was caught by officers in an empty lot. Officers searched Daniels and found a total of $228 in cash on him, which included $88 worth of $2 bills, CCPD said.Daniels was transported to Lee County Jail.
