CLEARWATER, Fla. – A St. Petersburg man is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing his sedan into a home and attempting to flee the scene early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. Saturday, on South Keene Road in Clearwater.

The FHP report states that Alhan Eduardo Montes Jaramillo, 31, was driving a southbound Acura sedan when he departed the roadway north of Hunt Lane. The vehicle initially struck a fence at the residence then continued across the yard before colliding with the front of the house, causing property damage.

Following the crash, the driver reportedly fled the scene on foot. Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies quickly responded, and the suspect was apprehended by a Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy just several hundred feet from the damaged home.

Montes Jaramillo was subsequently arrested and booked on several charges, including:

Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Property Damage

Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Involving Property Damage

Refusal to Submit to Sobriety Testing

Resisting Arrest

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
