Regardless of whether you were the first team eliminated from College Football Playoff contention or the last, the transfer portal will haunt you all the same.
Two nights after their national title heartbreak at home against the Indiana Hoosiers, the Miami Hurricanes have lost multiple players who want to find greener pastures in 2026.
Although most have been depth pieces, they were hit by one of their top-rated recruits in the 2025 class on Wednesday, who elected to leave the university.

True freshman Girard Pringle Jr. doesn’t want to sit behind a loaded running back room and is presumably heading elsewhere for more playing time next season.
Out of Seffner, Florida, Pringle Jr. was recruited as a four-star and saw time in nine games during the season, including three carries in the team’s CFP quarterfinal win over the defending champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Overall, he ran for 375 yards on a 6.0 average per carry with four rushing touchdowns while adding another 53 yards through receptions.
Although primed to have a breakout season next year, it was still going to be difficult behind CharMan Brown and superstar tailback Mark Fletcher Jr. as starters. Fletcher Jr. was otherworldly for the Hurricanes down the stretch, rushing for over 100 yards in three of their four playoff games.
Instead of challenging the veteran Fletcher Jr., Pringle Jr. has the opportunity to find a place where he can get starter minutes and be the primary back following a successful true freshman season.
Both the Hurricanes and Hoosiers have been hit by the portal in the past 48 hours, with their primetime success also pushing several depth pieces out the door who believe they can star elsewhere in the country.
Over 5,000 Division I players entered the portal, and although Pringle Jr. will undoubtedly find a program to call home in 2026, many of the student-athletes who attempted to transfer will have a place to play come next campaign.
