A 15-year-old was taken into custody after stealing a Toyota pickup truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said, leading its troopers on a hot pursuit.

The Florida Highway Patrol were sent on a vehicle pursuit after a 15-year-old stole a Toyota pickup truck.
FHP received the call Jan. 21 about the stolen vehicle, which belonged to pool cleaning service “Aqua Doc.” The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office also had reached out to FHP after seeing the truck driving down Shadeville Highway.
Troopers caught up to the pickup after it turned from Shadeville Highway onto Spring Creek Highway. An attempt to stop the vehicle near Wakulla-Arran Road didn’t work, and the truck kept heading north.
The Toyota truck then drove onto the grassy shoulder on the east side of the road, passing a car that had pulled over for emergency vehicles. The driver suddenly turned back onto the highway, causing the truck to spin. As it did, the right side of the truck hit the front of a Ford SUV, leaving that driver and two passengers – both children under 10 – with minor injuries.
After impact, the truck spun again, moved along the west shoulder, and started to roll over. It struck a utility pole, snapping it in half, then went through a chain-link fence before coming to rest facing north and blocking both lanes of Spring Creek Highway. The 15-year-old sustained minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla EMS/Fire and Talquin Electric.
