A 22-year-old Cape Coral man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Hardee County. A 35-year-old man from Fort Myers was also killed in the crash.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday when a 2025 Kia, driven by the Fort Myers man, was traveling north on County Road 663, approaching a stop sign at State Road 64. The Kia, the FHP reported, violated the right of way of a semi-tractor trailer truck traveling east on State Road 64, driving into the intersection and collided with the trailer portion of the semi.
Both the driver and the Cape Coral man, who was passenger in the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene, FHP reported. A second passenger in the Kia, a 25-year-old man from Fort Myers, was critically injured and transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the semi, a 71-year-old man from Wauchula, was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
