A Universal employee was attacked after she refused to validate a guest’s restaurant parking ticket, so they didn’t have to pay for parking, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s OfficeThe woman told deputies that she was working at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel restaurant as a hostess when four guests were leaving and asked to have their four parking tickets validated.The guests were later identified as Olivia Brito, Diorte Humberte, Amanda Brito and Laura Alonso Carvalho.The employee only validated two of the parking tickets, making one of the guests, Amanda Brito, upset. According to OCSO, Amanda Brito then picked up the parking stamp and validated her ticket herself.At this time, the four guests exited the restaurant and went to the parking lot to retrieve their vehicles.However, the OCSO said the hostess managed to contact the parking attendant to inform them that she had not validated the parking tickets the guests were trying to use. About 20 minutes later, deputies say the guests returned to the restaurant with the parking tickets, demanding the employee validate them.When she refused again, telling them she was unable to validate the tickets, deputies say Amanda Brito began banging the establishment-owned iPad on the hostess’s desk.Moments later, Amanda Brito struck the employee in the face with her hand, causing her to fall to the floor.Olivia Brito, Humberte and Alonso Carvalho began striking, punching and kicking the woman while she was on the ground.It wasn’t until the manager and another employee stepped in that they were able to break up the altercation.The manager, Paul Julian, told deputies that as he approached the hostess stand, he witnessed the guest strike the employee in the face. Julian said he saw her fall to the ground.Julian said he saw the three females, Alonso Carvalho, Olivia Brito and her mother, Amanda Brito, kick, strike and pull on the employee’s hair.OCSO said that after the fight was broken up, Amanda Brito told Julian she needed to get her parking ticket validated, and the employee hit her. Julian told the employee he saw her hit first, not the other way around. Amanda Brito and Olivia Brito were taken into custody. They were also trespassed from the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel for a year.All four guests are charged with battery.Amanda Brito and Olivia Brito have been released.
