On Monday, the 5000 Role Models of Excellence, founded by Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, gathered for its 33rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. The event supports young men graduating high school across South Florida through mentorship and scholarships, with every senior in this year’s class heading to college with an average grade point average of 3.5. This year, the breakfast also honored Miami music pioneers, including DJ Khaled, Flo Rida, Freezy Prince and Trick Daddy.
