SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – It’s not often that Florida sees snow. It’s even more rare that Florida sees snow two years in a row.
However, Florida has been breaking records lately.
It has been one year since Florida saw record break snowfall.
On Jan. 22, 2025, the snowfall could be seen from outer space via satellite imagery.
According to the National Weather Service, most of Northwest Florida saw 4-6 inches, but localized areas saw up to a foot and a half of snow.
Interstate 10 was shut down from the Alabama state line to just west of Tallahassee.
ABC7’s Meteorologist Megan Kennedy was actually a part of the action as she was a meteorologist for our sister station at the time… Here is a look back at some of her experience in the field.
“The snow has been coming down all day and it is just a winter wonderland outside. You could see all of the people playing all day long!
“ You take your ruler and go straight down and you can see we’re just under three inches of snow here in Defuniak Springs. I would say about two and 3/4 of an inch.
