Miami running back Girard Pringle is no longer expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He will return to the Hurricanes in 2026.

Pringle was the No. 8 running back in the portal and the No. 101 player overall, according to On3’s transfer portal player rankings. Pringle was a freshman during Miami’s run to the national championship game.

In 2025, Pringle finished the season with 62 carries for 375 yards and four touchdowns on 6.0 yards per carry. His best performance came against NC State during. a 41-7 win over the Wolfpack, where he rushed for 17 carries for 116 yards — both career highs.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder appeared in nine games as a reserve behind starter Mark Fletcher, who led the ACC with 1,192 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. But it was actually Pringle who led the ‘Canes in yards per attempt. Now, he’s primed for a much larger role with the Hurricanes in 2026.

As a high schooler, he was one of the most sought-after backs in the country, earning a four-star rating from all four major recruiting services. He was tabbed as the No. 118 overall recruit and No. 5 running back in his class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

He’ll be returning to a Miami squad that is coming off a deep run to the College Football Playoff national championship game. The Hurricanes ended just short of winning it all, eventually losing to Indiana 27-21 on Jan. 19.

Still, the victory re-established Miami as a major power not only in the ACC, but in the college football world as well. Now in 2026, Pringle will look to become a pivotal piece in keeping the standard in South Beach.
