5 Points businesses on high alert after string of recent break ins; JSO investigating

  • October 20, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Several businesses in Jacksonville’s 5 Points neighborhood have fallen victim to a series of break-ins, with the latest target being a popular local coffee shop that sustained thousands in damage.

BREW Five Points, a fixture in the community for 11 years, said the business was left with approximately $3,000 in property damage after burglars shattered windows and stole cash

Despite the damage, the coffee shop remained open for business, with staff quickly cleaning up the debris.

“In all the 11 years, there is a first time for everything,” the business posted on Instagram, detailing the break-in and damage to the shop.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) is investigating multiple similar incidents in the area. According to JSO data, several burglaries have been reported near or in Riverside since Sept. 1.

Pattaya Thai restaurant became another target on Oct. 13 around 3 a.m., when surveillance footage captured a suspect using a cinder block to break through the front door’s glass windows before stealing cash from the premises.

Just minutes later, at 3:40 a.m., Sake House restaurant reported a similar break-in, with perpetrators targeting a side entrance and using the same method – a cinder block to shatter the glass door.

Local customers have rallied to support the affected businesses. “It’s sad how someone could do that,” said Maren, a regular patron at BREW Five Points, who planned to continue supporting the establishment.

JSO is actively investigating these incidents.

Anyone with information about these burglaries is urged to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
