The latest No Kings protest in Tallahassee against the policies and actions of President Donald Trump is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 24 outside the Historic Florida Capitol.
Organizers say the rally and march will “mark one year of resistance against the Trump agenda.”
“Please dress for a walk, and we’d love for everyone to show support for immigrants by bringing flags from different countries,” organizers write on a Facebook event page. “Let’s show up and make it clear we’re ready to keep fighting!”
The event page lists more than 100 people going and more than 500 interested in going. A march around the Capitol complex is scheduled.
Unlike past marches, Tallahassee activists look like they are going it alone this time around. There do not appear to be dozens of protests scheduled in other cities, which has been a hallmark of the No Kings protests.
The NoKings.org website is still displaying the Oct. 18 national rally, which organizers say drew 7 million people to 2,700 demonstrations in all 50 states.
Indivisible Tallahassee, which has been a leading organizer of past No Kings protests, doesn’t appear to be involved. They were a leading force behind one of two recent vigils held after ICE agents shot a woman in Minneapolis. The first vigil was led by the Tallahassee Immigrant Rights Alliance.
A press release from the Tallahassee Students for a Democratic Society and the newly formed Tallahassee Coalition Against Trump said the organizations will be joined by 10 local advocacy groups and “over 100 are likely to attend.”
“Join us as community members and organizers come together to stand against Donald Trump and loudly say NO KINGS!”
