TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The City of Tallahassee and Georgia’s Department of Transportation are sending local teams to North Georgia to help with the impacts of an expected winter storm this weekend.
The GDOT is sending about 100 South Georgia employees north, with some of them operating brine trucks to prepare roads for the weather conditions, according to a GDOT spokesperson.
Furthermore, the department is also sending 18 dump trucks equipped with plows and salt spreaders.

As far as the City of Tallahassee, crews will unite Saturday to prepare a mutual aid deployment toward Marietta, Georgia, city officials announced Friday. A team of 17 personnel from City Electric and Fleet, along with trucks and equipment, will head to Marietta to help with expected power restoration efforts, per the city.
Tony Guillen, general manager of the City of Tallahassee Electric and Gas Utility, says their highly skilled crews are no strangers to the conditions they may face.
“They welcome the challenge and willdemonstrate the professionalism and heart that Tallahassee is known for,” Guillen said. “We’re proud of their commitment.”
The Florida Municipal Electric Association says this is “Florida’s largest cold-weather mutual aid deployment to neighboring states in recent years.”
