The city of Miami may follow in Hialeah’s footsteps and create a task force to investigate businesses with ties to the Cuban regime. Commissioner Ralph Rosado says if his ordinance is approved, the city could demand businesses show tax receipts and investigate potential violations of federal law. The businesses would be notified and given an opportunity to respond before any licenses are revoked or suspended. If the task force is approved, appointments and departmental designations would be made within 30 days, and the group would sunset a year later.
