VALDOSTA — A suspect charged in the death of a Valdosta man is also accused of killing two people in Florida.
54-year-old Flay Rollins was arrested in Tallahassee following the last of the three murders.
Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 3200 block of Skipper Bridge Road Jan. 16 for an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound. When they arrived, they found Walter “Bo” Petiford, who was declared dead on scene from the gunshot.
Rollins was later found in Tallahassee and arrested by officers with the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshall’s Office. Since his capture, two other homicides have been connected to Rollins, according to reports in other media.
The first victim discovered dead in the spree, Sheena Devon Kenon, was found at Bethel By The Lake Drive in Tallahassee, and a warrant went out for his arrest. Authorities found the final victim, Otica Williams, dead in the Apalachicola National Forest from a gunshot wound. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the autopsy revealed that Williams was pregnant at the time of her death.
“My mom was a very loving person who would do anything to help anyone in need,” Zyann Cromartie, Williams’s daughter, wrote in the GoFundMe for her funeral. “She loved her kids dearly and always put her family first. Her kindness and generosity touched so many lives, and she was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.”
This is not the first time Rollins has been arrested, according to a report from WCTV; he has multiple charges, spanning back to 1994. He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, with further charges pending.
