MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Deputies say a high-speed Mini Cooper chase that reached 100 mph and crossed two counties ended Friday morning with a PIT maneuver.

The incident began early Friday morning when OCSO deputies clocked a Mini Cooper with British plates traveling over 100 mph on SR-710.

Deputies say they attempted to catch up, but were met with weaving and passing vehicles on the shoulders.

Due to the “immediate danger” posed to innocent motorists, OCSO deputies say they made the tactical decision to disengage.

The vehicle continued onto SR-714 towards the Martin County line. Around this time, deputies say the occupants, later identified as 31-year-old Jank Ismael Rois-Delecruz and 28-year-old Lioshka Orellana Diaz, switched seats while the vehicle was still in motion.

Soon after, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office picked up the trail on I-95 following multiple 911 calls from concerned citizens. When the vehicle refused to stop for MCSO, deputies utilized a PIT maneuver to safely bring the car to a halt.

Orellana Diaz was booked into Martin County Jail for fleeing and eluding, and a warrant was filed for Rois-Delecruz for fleeing and eluding in Okeechobee County before the seat swap.
