Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews saved five pets but could not save a sixth during a house fire in Carrollwood, officials said.
Multiple 911 callers reported the fire at 2904 Lake Stall Lane at 11:17 a.m. Jan. 21, according to the agency. The first fire engine arrived to find heavy flames coming from the front of the home.
Firefighters entered the residence and put out the fire in less than 15 minutes, officials said.
Crews rescued three dogs and three cats from inside the home. One cat died in the fire, according to the agency. Bystanders took the five surviving animals to a veterinarian.
No firefighters were injured.
The Fire Investigations Unit is investigating the cause.
