  • January 24, 2026

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office has identified the skeletal remains found almost three months ago near the Apalachicola National Forest as Andrew Mason Esquilin of Asheville, North Carolina.

The remains were located on October 30 by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officer in the area of Forest Road 399-Z and Curtis Mill Road.

WCSO Captain Brett Surace described the area where Esquilin’s remains were found as very remote and well known for hunting and other outdoor activities.

The sheriff’s office asked those with information about Esquilin to contact WCSO or Detective Tiffany Spears at 850-745-7184.
