VOLLEYBALL

Regional bids: North Fort Myers made the Region 5A-3 playoffs as the seventh seed.

The FHSAA state brackets were released Saturday.

The Red Knights (16-7) travel to play No. 2 seed St. Petersburg on Thursday in the first round.

Bishop Verot was the seventh seed and Oasis the eighth in the Region 3A-3 playoffs.

The Vikings (20-7) face second-seeded King’s Academy on Wednesday, while the Sharks (21-6) will take on No. 1 seed Clearwater Calvary Christian.

CROSS COUNTRY

Bulldog Invitational: Angel Cruz and Dylan Macias Buenrostro of Mariner dominated Saturday’s cross country event. Cruz won in a time of 15:07.7, with Macias-Buenrostro second in 15:24.1 The third-place finisher, Chris Rohrs of Gulf Coast, was more than two minutes behind Macias-Buenrostro.

South Fort Myers’ Gahedjine Montrose was the girls winner.
