It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Edward Bernard Benedit, Jr., beloved husband and brother. Eddie died peacefully of natural causes on October 9th, 2025 at his home.
Eddie was born to parents Col. (Ret) Edward Bernard Benedit, Sr. (deceased) and Diane Ellen Benedit (deceased) on November 6th, 1953 in Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Eddie called many places home being a part of a military family. Favorite places included Bamberg and Heidelberg, Germany and his final home in Orange Park, Florida.
Eddie attended Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida and graduated in 1973. He attended college at St. Johns River Junior College in Palatka, as well as Edward Waters College in Jacksonville attaining a Bachelors degree in Organizational Management. He also attended Webster University and earned his Masters Degree in Human Resources.
Eddie was married to his beautiful wife, Karen Lynne Benedit of Orange Park, Florida, just shy of 50 years. Their lovely daughter, Brooke Lynne, preceded him in death.
Eddie enjoyed a variety of challenging stops on his career path to include Quality Control Technician at Union Camp Turpine and Aeromatics; Customer Service at International Paper; International Flavors and Fragrances and more recently as a teacher of ESP students of multiple grade levels at Center Academy. He had retired from his career to focus on his family.
Eddie was happiest on a jet ski cruising Black Creek, playing a guitar, “mucking” with his truck or Delorean but most happy when telling yet another tall tale or spending time with his wife and their beloved pets.
He is survived by his wife, Karen and his sister Donna Cotlow and brother, Ronald Benedit.
He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and all those who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Ed was a gentle soul, great big brother, husband and true patriot.
