The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board approved two garage expansion projects for Orlando International Airport (MCO). This news follows previously announced plans for the future of MCO, including the addition of 8,000 parking spaces.

GOAA, which operates the airport, approved the Terminal A Garage and Rental Car (RAC) Expansion project and the New Terminal C Garage and Rental Car (RAC) Expansion project. These “both build on strong public support for more parking options,” MCO said in a press release.

The goal is to increase public parking by 8,000 spaces by 2030.

“This decision is about listening to our customers, tenants, and our community, adapting to changing needs, and investing where it matters most,” said Lance Lyttle, Chief Executive Officer of GOAA. “By re-envisioning how we use existing land and infrastructure, we can deliver meaningful improvements faster, while keeping customer experience at the forefront of everything we do.”

Approximately 1,500 spaces in the Terminal Top Parking Garage are being converted into Reserved Parking for travelers who reserve a space before arriving at the airport.

MCO is in the process of installing a new Parking Guidance System in all four existing garages in a $13.9 million phased project. This system will provide real-time availability information on FlyMCO.com, the MCO app, and digital signage at roadways, entrances, and in the garages.

The system will also be installed in the expanded Terminal A Garage and new Terminal C Garage. It’s expected to be operational in the existing Garage C in the first quarter of 2026. Installation in Garage A, Garage B, and Terminal Top Garage will continue through summer 2027.

The Board previously removed a proposed Consolidated Rental Car Facility project from MCO’s improvement plans to “shift toward more cost-effective projects and enhancements that can be delivered more quickly”. Other options for consolidated rental car areas are being explored.

Other projects in the MCO Capital Improvement Program include baggage handling system improvements; new and upgraded gate areas; renovating and adding restrooms, seating areas, retail shops, and restaurants; and the installation of technology to improve the journey through MCO.
