TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Protests were held nationwide and here at home on Saturday, taking aim at the ongoing immigration raids.
A large group gathered at the steps of the historic Florida Capitol building and lined the streets, chanting for change, blaring horns in unity and calling out the Trump administration.
WCTV spoke with Tallahassee resident Dalila Deterding, who said she is hoping for peace and she worries this could get close to home for neighbors in the Big Bend.
“All people should be equal and I’ve seen a lot of injustices happen,” Deterding said.

“I really don’t wanna see it come here to our cities and our families and our communities,” she said.
WCTV reached out to the Florida GOP for an interview in response to the protest.
Chairman Evan Power sent us a statement saying, “The radical Democrat party is all in on defunding the police and now they are focusing on ICE, an agency that is complying with and enforcing the rule of law. Democrats want to return to open borders and chaos! Floridians and Americans don’t want anarchy on our streets as we believe in the rule of law for safety and security.”
