CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Cape Coral Yacht Club is entering a new phase of transformation as contractors move in to begin significant rebuilding efforts.

Mayor John Gunter announced the mobilization of contractors at the site, marking the start of removing damaged docks and replacing seawalls. This development follows the destruction caused by the boathouse fire.

“The city says this work will help stabilize the waterfront and prepare the area for what’s next; a brand new boathouse,” said Gunter.

The Kearns Group, the engineering firm spearheading the project, is actively involved in the design and permitting process. City leaders aim to construct a boathouse that is bigger, better, and more resilient.

“A boathouse that can withstand future storms and serve as a long-term centerpiece of the yacht club,” said Gunter.

While officials have not yet announced a construction start date, the presence of crews on site signifies that the transformation is officially underway.
