Tennessee has added its likely final piece of the secondary puzzle, grabbing a commitment from former Miami cornerback Jadais Richard. The veteran cornerback started his career at Vanderbilt, but has spent the last three seasons with Miami.
Richard will have one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-1, 195 pound senior started six games for the Hurricanes in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury. Richard only played 20 snaps in 2025 for Miami, logging 20 snaps.
Tennessee beat out Auburn for Richard’s commitment. He was supposed to visit the Tigers later this week, but has since canceled.
Richard was credited with 27 tackles during the 2024 season, picking off one pass. The former 3-star prospect brings length, experience and depth to the Tennessee cornerback room, rounding out the group with Kayin Lee and Ty Redmond. Jim Knowles added four safeties as well, which will be used in a variety of ways.
Tennessee’s revamped defense could stand to add another body on the defensive front for depth, although it’s late in the portal cycle now. In total, Tennessee has brought in 20 transfers since the portal opened a little over three weeks ago.
