What the Florida?!?! Long stretch of winter weather invades Orlando area

  • January 26, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – After breaking near-record highs Sunday across Central Florida, get ready for a big flip in the weather pattern!

The same powerful winter storm that brought snow, ice and sub-zero wind chills from Texas to New England will sweep into Central Florida, kicking off an extended cold snap with several mornings of freeze and frost concerns.

Frost & Freeze Potential

MONDAY

The front moves into Central Florida from the northwest to the southeast, bringing scattered showers (30–50%) and gusty winds. Winds turn breezy from the west and northwest in the afternoon, gusting up to 25 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT

After sunset, much colder air pours in quickly. By daybreak Tuesday, lows drop into the low to mid-30s across most inland neighborhoods.

Wind Chill Tonight

A Freeze Warning is in effect for counties northwest of I-4, and wind chills plunge into the mid- to upper 20s across much of the interior, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory.

Cold Weather Advisory

THIS WEEK

Cold mornings and crisp afternoons dominate the workweek. A reinforcing surge of cold air arrives around Thursday, limiting any real warmup despite plenty of sunshine.

Freeze Watch & Warnings

Morning lows run 10–20 degrees below normal, with afternoon highs also well below average through midweek.

STRETCH OF ADVISORIES

A Freeze Watch is in place for areas north and west of metro Orlando for Wednesday morning, with freeze probabilities highest in rural locations.

Additional Cold Weather Advisories are likely through at least Thursday as wind chills repeatedly dip into the 20s. Patchy frost is also possible each night, especially west of I-95.

WEEEKND

Forecast confidence drops heading into the weekend as additional disturbances dive south. Guidance suggests another surge of colder air is possible late Saturday into Sunday, though the exact intensity depends on how energy interacts along the East Coast.

Temperatures could trend sharply colder again if a stronger system develops offshore.

While details are still coming into focus, the overall pattern strongly favors continued below-normal temperatures.
