TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida A&M volleyball team put forth a determined effort Monday night but came up short against a surging Prairie View A&M squad, falling in straight sets at home. Despite the loss, the Rattlers showcased their competitive spirit and flashes of strong play against a tough Lady Panthers offense. 

The Rattlers were led by a double-double from Ladonna Trantham, who registered 11 kills and 14 digs on the day. Farah Farooq also added 11 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Victoria Santana chipped in for 15 digs to go with five blocks from Farooq.

How It Happened 

SET 1 | The Rattlers battled hard in the opening set but came up short 25-19. Florida A&M showed flashes of momentum early, before Prairie View A&M managed to pull ahead. The Rattlers continued to fight, displaying resilience and determination in a competitive first frame. 

SET 2 | Florida A&M put up a strong fight in the second set, falling just short 25-22 to go down 2-0 in the match. The Rattlers delivered an impressive offensive showing, posting a .368 hitting percentage and racking up 19 kills. Despite the narrow setback, FAMU’s powerful attack kept the pressure on Prairie View A&M throughout the frame. 

SET 3 | Florida A&M battled relentlessly in the third set but came up just short in a tight 25-22 decision. The Rattlers kept the pressure on Prairie View A&M in a back-and-forth frame showcasing their grit and competitive energy. Despite holding strong deep into the set, the Lady Panthers edged ahead late to narrowly close out the match.Â
