TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Senate President Ben Albritton is recovering after doctors found a blood clot in his lung over the weekend.
Albritton went to the emergency room at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for chest pain early Sunday morning, according to a memo sent to senators. Physicians discovered a small blood clot in his lung during his emergency room visit.
The Senate president remained in the emergency room overnight and is currently under observation while awaiting further testing, the memo said.
Albritton is in good spirits and has been in frequent communication with staff via phone and email, according to his office. All previously scheduled Senate business will proceed as planned this week.
The memo said Albritton looks forward to returning to the office later this week.
