A Monday morning collision in Broward County resulted in a massive sinkhole that flooded the road, according to authorities.
Around 9:49 a.m., deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene where a construction vehicle had struck a fire hydrant near the 100 block of NW 27th Terrace.
Upon arrival, authorities found that the damaged hydrant had flooded the street and created a six-foot-wide sinkhole.
Broward Fire Rescue crews and representatives from the City of Fort Lauderdale were also on-site and managed to shut off the water.
“The area has been closed off while crews work on repairs,” the BSO stated.
Deputies are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
