Frida Kahlo’s legacy has extended in a way the artist never would have imagined.
Frida Kahlo Miami Residences, a branded luxury development, has just launched sales in Miami’s artsy Wynwood neighborhood.
Designed by architect Carlos Ott, the 244-unit building features swooping curves and a multi-story mural of the renowned Mexican artist, known for her self-portraits and works inspired by the country’s indigenous culture.
The architecture “strikes a balance between softness and strength, using graceful curves to create a form that feels resilient, open and artistic, yet deeply human,” Ott said in a prepared statement.
The units range from studios to three bedroom apartments with prices ranging from $500,000 to $1.6 million.

Co-developers PMG and Lndmrk partnered with the Frida Kahlo Corporation, which controls the rights to the artist’s name and image, to brand the residences. It’s the latest entry in an ever-expanding circle of brands that attach themselves to residential “lifestyle” properties. It began with the big names in hospitality like St. Regis and Four Seasons, then spread to cars, luxury retailers, restaurants and now, artists.
“Wynwood has long stood at the core of Miami’s arts community, driving a bold creative energy and self-assured edge that reflects the fearless spirit of Frida Kahlo,” Ryan Shear, managing partner at PMG, said in a prepared statement.
There was no further clarity on how the building would integrate the legacy of Kahlo, a counter-cultural icon whose work celebrated feminism, LGBTQ+ culture and indigenous Mexican heritage. The unusual branded development comes at a time of growing demand and prices for female artists. Kahlo’s work “El Sueño,” made headlines last year when it sold at Sotheby’s in November for $54.7 million, a record for the artist.
The Frida Kahlo Corporation will oversee “the curated art collection, food and beverage component and curated pool deck experience,” a spokesperson for PMG said via email.
The building will also have a list of luxury amenities including a lobby bar, a pool deck and outdoor bar, a wellness center with a spa and steam room and a fitness center. In addition, concierge healthcare provider Baker Health will open its first Florida location in the building, offering on-site primary healthcare and wellness services to the residents.
