Cape Coral City Council’s two-day budget workshop will begin Thursday with a budget kickoff in Council Chambers.

The winter workshop kicks off the budget season for 2027 giving the public an opportunity to provide input, as well as council members.

Topics to be discussed on Thursday, Jan. 29, are fund balance, State House changes recap, fire growth model, police master plan and revenue forecast.

The presentation will begin with an overview of the fiscal year 2026 economy – 3.90% unemployment rate, 2.70% consumer price index and as of 2025 quarter four 2.20% inflation.

The workshop will include a fiscal year 2027 preview, which includes several points to be decided: What are council’s funding priorities for fiscal year 2027 and beyond, maintaining the current funding profile and future projects.

The second day, Jan. 30, will include discussions on debt, impact fees, budget adjustments, Stantec model and strategic planning.

Council also will holds a summer budget workshop where a comprehensive overview and key priorities will be proposed.

Hearings and the adoption of the budget are held in September.  

This week’s workshop meetings will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.

The meeting is open to the public.
