  • January 27, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M men’s basketball (8-10, 5-2 SWAC) led for nearly 34 minutes of its game against Jackson State (6-14, 5-2 SWAC) on Monday night, but a late three-pointer by the Tigers lifted them to the 66-65 win.

Daeshun Ruffin and Jayme Mitchell Jr. combined for 50 points for Jackson State. For the Rattlers, Kaleb Waashington led the way, scoring 17 points off the bench.

The Rattlers shot 0-13 in the second half and just 53 percent from the free-throw line throughout the game.’

“As coach Jeff Van Gundy used to say, ‘this is a make-or-miss league.’ They made, we missed down the stretch,” said Florida A&M head coach Charlie Ward. “Those things happen; this is basketball. We just have to continue to get better. We got all the wide open shots we wanted.”

Up next, Florida A&M heads on the road to face Alabama A&M on Saturday.
