LSU women’s basketball took care of business at home against Florida Monday. The Tigers won 89-60 in front of a crowd at the PMAC for their fifth SEC victory of the 2025-26 season.

Jada Richard scored 20 points and guarded Florida’s leading scorer Liv McGill all game long. MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 15 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter. Amiya Joyner posted her second-straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kate Koval also pulled down 10 rebounds.

The score was tight in the early goings. McGill scored the first points of the game and Florida’s first six points. She gave LSU all it could handle defensively in the first quarter and both sides traded baskets but LSU was ahead at the end of the first quarter.

The back and forth play continued in the second quarter and LSU started to struggle. It went on a three-minute scoring drought and committed five turnovers within that span. Flau’Jae Johnson ended the streak with an elbow jumper, which started an 8-0 LSU run to take the lead for good. LSU took a 36-29 lead into the locker room.

Florida switched to a zone defense to open the second half but LSU continued to score at will. Richard stepped up her defense on McGill as well. After holding the Gators’ leading scorer scoreless in the second, Richard was tenacious in the third. She scored 12 points in the frame and powered LSU to an 18-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

LSU continued its offensive onslaught in the fourth. It put the game far out of reach but Mulkey decided to roll with most of her starters for the entire game. The true freshmen were subbed in with under two minutes left in the game.

FINAL: LSU 89, Florida 60

LSU took control in the second half to pick up its fifth-straight victory. Richard led the way with 20 points, one point shy of her career high. Joyner tallied her second-straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Fulwiley, despite playing limited minutes in the first half, finished with 15 points while Williams finished with 12 points.

Subs roll in for LSU

As the lead grows to nearly 30 points for LSU, Mulkey is diving deeper into her bench. Meghan Yarnevich, Divine Bourrage and Bella Hines are into the game alongside Joyner and Fulwiley. LSU is up 87-60 with under a minute remaining.

Fulwiley increases impact in fourth

After dealing with early foul trouble, Fulwiley made her presence known in the fourth quarter. She has six points in the frame, four of which came from the free throw line, to go along with a block, assist and a defensive rebound.

LSU holds a 75-51 lead with 5:38 left in the game.

LSU lead expands to 23

Williams knocked down a triple to extend LSU’s lead above 20 points for the first time. After a low-scoring game against Texas A&M, Williams is back in doubt figures with 12 points on five eight shooting. She has two triples.

END 3Q: LSU 63, Florida 45

LSU’s lead neared a 20-point lead multiple times throughout the third quarter. It shot 50% in the frame as it expanded its advantage despite Florida switching to a zone defense.

The Tigers tightened up on both ends of the floor, limiting Florida to one shot and taking care of the basketball.

On both sides, Richard takes over

After knocking down two foul shots drawn on a drive to the basket, Richard picked McGill’s pocket and dished a dime to Williams for an assist. Florida set an illegal screen on her the following possession then she drove to the basket and put two free throws through again.

Mulkey has to be pleased with how her sophomore point guard is playing tonight. Richard has the toughest defensive assignment with McGill and continues to produce on offense. She has 18 points on six of 10 shooting from the field.

Richard knocks down second triple

Richard stepped into a triple off an in bounds play to give LSU a 53-39 lead, its largest of the contest. The Tigers’ point guard has 14 points on six of 10 shooting from the field.

Florida holds rebound advantage in third quarter

The Gators are keeping the game close is part to their effort on the glass. They’ve out rebounded LSU 6-2 in the third quarter so far. Four came on the defensive end as they’ve tried to limit the Tigers to one and done.

LSU holds a 27-22 advantage in rebounding over the entirety of the game thus far.

Play goes back and forth, LSU still holds lead

Both sides have exchanged baskets over the last minute and a half but LSU retains a 13-point lead at the 4:32 mark of the third quarter. The Tigers are shooting 62.5% from the field in the frame and scored seven points off four Florida turnovers.

Fulwiley picks up third foul

Fulwiley joined Knox on the bench with three fouls of her own. She hit a Florida shooter on the way up on a midrange shot attempt.

Knox subbed out in foul trouble

Knox picked up her third foul on the defensive end on a rebound attempt. She was promptly subbed out in favor of Fulwiley, who sat much of the first half with two fouls. LSU is up 44-31 with 6:56 left in the third quarter.

Florida moves to zone defense

To open the third quarter, Florida switched from a man defense to a zone with Me’Arah O’Neal on the bench. Knox shot the gaps to score four points, expanding the LSU lead to 11 just over a minute into the frame.

END H1: LSU 36, Florida 29

LSU weathered adversity in the second quarter to extend its lead on the back half. It went on a 10-2 run over the second quarter’s final three minutes. Joyner led the team with nine points and seven rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end.

Richard steps up defense on McGill

After McGill scored at will to open the contest, she’s gone cold in the second quarter. Richard is playing much better on-ball defense to contain McGill. The Tigers are hedging screens better and making McGill work to get shots off. The Gators’ leading scorer missed all three of her attempts in the frame.

Johnson gives LSU the lead

Flau’Jae Johnson hit an elbow jumper to put LSU back in front. It ends a scoreless drought of over three minutes for the Tigers. They are up 28-27 with 2:55 left in the second quarter.

LSU scoring drought exceeds two minutes

Things are unraveling for LSU halfway through the second quarter. It hasn’t scored in two and a half minutes and continues to turn the ball over. Frustration on the defensive end is carrying over and the Tigers must hone their focus during the media timeout to retake the lead.

Turnovers pile up for LSU as Florida takes lead

Over the last minute and a half, LSU committed four turnovers. Florida took advantage as Reynolds knocked down a three-pointer and drew a foul on the offensive end to regain possession. It takes a 27-26 lead with 4:49 remaining in the second quarter.

PMAC, Mulkey fired up at no-calls

Mulkey was animated talking with the officials when LSU was on defense. She and the crowd at the PMAC believe Florida should’ve been called for multiple offensive fouls. The Gators were eventually called for a push off but LSU turned it over immediately.

LSU retakes lead

Joyner rebounded a shot attempt and put it back up to give LSU a two-point. On the following offensive position, Flau’Jae Johnson hit a corner jumper to extend the lead to four points with 6:47 left in the second quarter.

Florida ties it up with triple

Yiech hit from deep to tie the game at 22 with under eight minutes remaining in the frame. On the ensuing offensive position from LSU, Fulwiley was called for the charge and was promptly subbed out as it was her second foul.

A three-pointer from Florida brought it within one point but a dribble drive by Jada Richard gave the Tigers a boost to end the first quarter.

Fulwiley basket ends cold streak

LSU was one of their last seven field goal attempts until Fulwiley made a layup shooting backwards. With 1:44 to play in the first quarter, LSU is up 20-16.

LSU shoots sharply but lead dwindles

The Tigers made six of their last eight shots from the field. Williams drained a three then Knox was the beneficiary of a pass down low from Joyner. Fulwiley scored her first points and LSU is up 16-14 with 4:22 left in the first quarter.

LSU has trouble stopping McGill

McGill has all six of Florida’s points so far on three of four shooting from the field. MiLaysia Fulwiley checked into the game and immediately picked up McGill in the half court.

Back and forth play to open

Each side scored two field goals so far but LSU has a 5-4 edge thanks to a foul shot by Amiya Joyner. Flau’Jae Johnson was involved in both field goals, scoring on a put back attempt then assisting Knox in transition.

LSU’s starting lineup remains the same from last game against Texas A&M. Flau’Jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, Jada Richard, Amiya Joyner and Grace Knox get the nod.

Florida starts Daviane Mindoudi, Laila Reynolds, Liv McGill, Me’Arah O’Neal and Caterina Piatti.

As of 1/23/26, ESPN projects LSU women’s basketball to be a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In previous years, its hard to imagine LSU still being on the No. 2 line with two SEC losses in January. But the conference is getting stronger and that leaves more room for error.
